Keep

Read newsletters outside your inbox.

Keep gives you a private email address. Subscribe with it, or forward messages to it, and each issue becomes a clean Markdown item you can read, search, and highlight alongside everything else you saved.

The private inbox and forwarded email processing are included with Personal for $10/month.

01.

Newsletters arrive as readable articles.

The Email section shows what arrived and what Keep did with it. Confirm a new subscription in one step, then open any saved issue as Markdown.

The case for boring infrastructure

Every few years a team I know rebuilds its deployment pipeline. The old one worked. Nobody could explain it any more, and that was reason enough.

What boring buys you

Boring infrastructure is infrastructure a new hire can reason about in their first week. It has fewer moving parts than the diagram suggests, and the parts it has are the ones everyone else uses too.

What it costs

You give up the feeling of a bespoke system. In exchange you get to spend your novelty budget on the product, which is the only place customers will ever notice it.

Example content. Keep saves the subject, sender, body, and links as Markdown. Transactional messages and duplicate deliveries can be skipped.

Create your address and subscribe with it.

Open Settings → Sources → Email to create your address. Use it wherever you would normally enter your email to subscribe.

  1. 01

    Create your Keep address

Each account has one active inbox address. It starts with k- and ends with @in.keep.md. Copy it from the Email section.

  2. 02

    Subscribe or forward

Enter the address on a newsletter site, or forward any message to it. For Gmail, add a forwarding rule for the senders you want to keep.

  3. 03

    Confirm the subscription

Keep detects confirmation emails and shows the link, code, or provider action in the Email section. Select Confirm to finish.

Mail that deserves better than an inbox.

Keep saves the subject, sender, message body, and links as Markdown. Transactional messages and duplicate deliveries can be skipped.

  1. Newsletters you actually read

Move the writers you follow out of your inbox and into a reading list that does not compete with work email.

  2. Substack and paid publications

Subscribe with your Keep address. Keep shows the six-digit code or sign-in link when Substack needs it.

  3. Forwarded notes and threads

Forward a message worth keeping. Keep removes the forwarding wrapper and saves the original message body.

04.

Every issue stays searchable.

A saved email is an item like any other. Search it, highlight it, link it to a note, and open it from the CLI, API, or a connected AI client.

05.

Questions about the newsletter inbox.

Do I get a separate email address?

Yes. Each account has one active address that starts with k- and ends with @in.keep.md. Create it in Settings → Sources → Email.

How do I confirm a newsletter subscription?

Open the Email section, find the pending confirmation, and select Confirm. Keep can show a confirmation link, a verification code, or an action that opens the provider site. Dismiss a confirmation you do not recognise.

Can I forward mail from Gmail automatically?

Yes. Add your Keep address in Gmail’s Forwarding settings, confirm it from the message Keep receives, then create a filter that forwards the senders you want.

What does Keep save from an email?

The subject, sender, message body, and links. HTML is converted to Markdown. Common transactional messages and duplicate deliveries can be skipped.

Can I reply to newsletters from Keep?

No. The inbox address only receives mail. Reply from your normal email account.

Can I try the inbox on Starter?

You can create a Starter account for free. The private inbox requires Personal, which costs $10/month.
