Export your data from Keep
Keep can export Notes, saved Items, and RSS subscriptions. Open Import and export settings to start.
Download every Note as Markdown
- Open Settings.
- Select Import & export.
- Find Notes ZIP.
- Select Download.
The ZIP contains one Markdown file for each current and archived Note. Each file includes frontmatter with its stable Note ID, revision, timestamps, archive state, and custom properties.
Export saved Items
Saved Item exports run in the background. Keep emails you when the file is ready.
- Open Settings.
- Select Import & export.
- Find Saved Items.
- Select Export.
- Choose a file format.
- Choose which Items to include.
- Turn on Include full article text if you need the saved content.
- Turn on Omit personal notes if the export should exclude them.
- Select Start export.
You can start a new export after the current job finishes. Recent jobs appear below the export controls with their status and download button.
Choose an Item export format
| format | use it for |
|---|---|
| Markdown ZIP | Portable files for editors, archives, and AI tools |
| JSON | Structured data for scripts and other apps |
| CSV | A compact spreadsheet of Item metadata |
Markdown ZIP and JSON exports can include the full saved article text. CSV exports do not include that content.
Limit which Items are exported
An export can include:
- every Item
- Items with one tag
- Items in one collection
- stashed Items only
- archived Items only
Turn on Omit personal notes when the export should exclude the notes you added to Items. This is useful when you plan to give the file to someone else.
Export RSS subscriptions as OPML
- Open Settings.
- Select Import & export.
- Find RSS subscriptions.
- Select Download.
The OPML file can be imported into another feed reader. It contains your RSS subscriptions rather than the saved Items from those feeds.
The import guide explains how to bring OPML and other exports back into Keep.
