Save email in Keep

Create a private Keep inbox, subscribe to newsletters, confirm subscriptions, and inspect recent email processing.

Keep gives you a private inbox address. Messages sent to that address become saved items with readable Markdown.

The private inbox and forwarded email processing are included with Personal.

Create your Keep address

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Sources.
  3. Find Email.
  4. Create an inbox address.
  5. Copy the address.

The address starts with k- and ends with @in.keep.md. Each account has one active inbox address.

Subscribe to a newsletter

  1. Enter your Keep address on the newsletter site.
  2. Open the Email section in Keep.
  3. Find the pending confirmation.
  4. Select Confirm.

Keep can show a confirmation link, a verification code, or an action that opens the provider site. Dismiss a confirmation when you do not recognise it.

Forward a message

Forward any message to your Keep address. Keep removes common forwarding wrappers and saves the original message body when possible.

To forward selected messages automatically, create a rule in your email provider. The rule must send matching mail to your Keep address.

Set up Gmail forwarding

  1. Open Gmail settings.
  2. Open Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  3. Add your Keep address.
  4. Open the Gmail confirmation in Keep.
  5. Confirm the forwarding address.
  6. Create a Gmail filter for the messages that you want to keep.
  7. Set the filter to forward those messages to Keep.

Complete a Substack subscription

Substack can send a six-digit code and a sign-in link.

  1. Subscribe with your Keep address.
  2. Open the verification message in Keep.
  3. Copy the code when the provider asks for it.
  4. Use Open Substack when Keep provides a sign-in link.
  5. Complete the subscription on Substack.

Inspect recent email

The Email section shows recent messages and processing status. Open a message to view its linked item, rendered HTML, raw message, or detected links.

Use this view when a message does not appear in Saved or a confirmation was not detected.

What Keep saves

Keep keeps the subject, sender, message body, and links. HTML is converted to Markdown. Common transactional messages and duplicate deliveries can be skipped.

Saved email items work with search, notes, the CLI, the API, and MCP.
