Personal lets you save public X posts through Capture, the browser extension, CLI, API, or MCP. Keep can expand a saved post into its full thread.
The separate X Sync add-on can follow a public X profile and save each new post or article as Markdown. It can also connect your private X account and import new bookmarks automatically. Thread expansion is included on every plan. It is not an X Sync feature.
Follow a public X profile
- Open Settings.
- Open Sources.
- Select Add source.
- Select X profile.
- Enter the username or profile URL.
- Choose Posts, Articles, or Posts and articles.
- Choose whether to import recent items.
- Select Add subscription.
Keep checks the profile every hour and saves new items as Markdown. Edit the subscription to change the content choice later.
Use the free Twitter RSS feed generator when you only need an RSS URL. You do not need an X login for a public profile. Free feeds refresh every 24 hours.
Connect an X account with X Sync
- Open Settings.
- Open Connections.
- Find X.
- Select Connect X.
- Authorise bookmark access.
- Choose a recent backfill or start from now.
- Choose the capture options.
You can connect more than one X account. Keep shows sync state and controls for each account.
Choose a backfill
Use Start from now to save future bookmarks only. Use a recent-bookmark option to run one capped import.
Keep does not promise a complete historical X import. Use a browser exporter such as ilo, then import the CSV or JSON file, when you need a snapshot of an existing bookmark list.
Expand threads
Open Settings, then Connections, to turn thread expansion on or off. Keep collects the author’s connected self-replies when this setting is on. It saves the posts in order with their text, links, media, and quoted posts when available.
Sync an account now
Open the account controls and select Sync now. A failed run shows an error. Read it, then select Retry.
Import bookmarks manually with Personal
Use a browser exporter when you need a manual copy of an existing X bookmark library.
- Export X bookmarks as CSV or JSON.
- Open Settings in Keep.
- Open Data.
- Find Import.
- Select Bookmarks from another app for CSV or generic JSON. Select X bookmark export only for a compatible Keep-format JSON file.
- Select the export file.
- Review the preview.
- Start the import.
The import into Keep post covers file formats after a browser exporter. See Import for processing options.
Disconnect an account
Open the account controls. Select Disconnect. Existing items stay in Keep. Future bookmarks from that account stop syncing.
