# Save anything to Markdown with Keep Web Clipper

Save articles, links, videos, PDFs, images, and useful web content as clean Markdown with Keep Web Clipper.

Use Keep Web Clipper to save articles, links, videos, PDFs, images, and other useful web content without leaving your browser. Review the captured Markdown, add properties, and create highlights before you save.

## Supported browsers

Install Keep Web Clipper from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/keep-search-bookmarks-fro/epjakppdpdhiiijdlelipeppcbfbllkf) for Chrome, Arc, or Brave.

Install Keep Web Clipper from [Firefox Add-ons](https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/keep-web-clipper/) for Firefox.

## Connect the extension

1.  Install the extension.
2.  Open the Keep icon in the browser toolbar.
3.  Select **Connect to Keep**.
4.  Sign in to Keep.
5.  After the connection succeeds, select **Close this tab**.

The extension stores its own connection. You can revoke it without changing your other Keep connections.

## Save the current page

1.  Open Keep Web Clipper.
2.  Review the page title and Markdown preview.
3.  Edit the title, author, date, site, description, tags, collection, or saved reason when needed.
4.  Edit the Markdown preview when the page needs a correction.
5.  Select **Add to Keep**.

The extension suggests existing tags and collections as you type. If the page is already in Keep, the main action changes to **Update**. An update changes the saved title, tags, collection, and reason without creating a duplicate Item.

YouTube pages show that a transcript will be added after you save. Keep gets the transcript during processing because it is not always present in the page.

## Save every open tab

Open the menu beside the main action. Select **Keep all tabs**. The menu shows the number of tabs that are not yet in Keep.

Restricted browser pages and tabs that are already saved are skipped.

## Copy or download Markdown

You can use the captured content without saving it to Keep.

1.  Open the menu beside the main action.
2.  Select **Copy to clipboard** or **Save file**.

**Save file** creates a `.md` file. If no page content is available, the file contains a Markdown link to the page.

## Use keyboard shortcuts

You can change extension shortcuts in your browser settings.

## Save from the context menu

Right-click a link. Select **Keep this link** to save it without opening it.

Right-click selected text. Select **Highlight in Keep** to save the page and the selected passage together.

## Create a highlight

1.  Select text on a page.
2.  Open Keep Web Clipper.
3.  Add an optional note.
4.  Select the main action.

If the page is new, the action saves the page and the highlight. If the page is already saved, it adds the highlight to the existing Item.

Highlights appear in the [Item reader](https://keep.md/docs/reading). You can edit or delete them there.

## Follow a web feed

When Keep finds a feed for the current site, the extension shows its status. Select the feed action to follow it. Select **Unfollow** twice to stop future syncs.

## Capture supported sites

The extension uses site-specific capture when it can preserve more context.

-   X posts keep the post text, author, media, quoted posts, and thread context.
-   YouTube videos are processed with a timestamped transcript when available.
-   GitHub repositories and gists keep repository metadata and content.
-   LinkedIn posts keep the post text and author.
-   Substack posts keep the article and publication details.

When you use the native Save action on supported LinkedIn and Substack pages, the extension can send that save to Keep. Removing the native save does not delete the Item from Keep.

## Automatic browser bookmark capture

When you create a browser bookmark with `Command D` or `Control D`, the extension also sends the page to Keep.

## Disconnect the extension

1.  Open Keep Web Clipper.
2.  Open its settings.
3.  Select **Disconnect**.

You can connect it again at any time.

## Leave a review

After you have saved a few pages, Keep may show one small review link in the popup. It does not repeat. You can also open the extension settings and select **Leave a review** at any time.
